AWIS-ND Professional Development

AWIS-ND hosts several professional development events that target current members' needs. If you have an idea, please email our Professional Development Chair.

STEM Luncheon Series

AWIS-ND hosts the STEM Luncheon Series with support from the College of Science, College of Engineering, and the Graduate School. Once a month, speakers present on campus resources, professional development information, current research, or general advice as a woman in STEM. We also encourage graduate student members to present on their own research.

Guest Speaker

AWIS-ND invites a speaker off-campus to deliver a talk to graduate student women in STEM advice on career building, leadership, and issues women in STEM face. AWIS-ND Members have opportunities to have lunch and one-on-one conversations with our speaker. All undergraduate students, graduate students, post-docs, faculty, and staff are welcome to attend any talk and the afternoon reception.

Themed Panels

Every Spring, AWIS-ND holds a panel of professionals to discuss a topic. In the past, this event has been the Two Body Problem Panel. As of 2016-2017, the panel topic will change based on the current membership interest. For 2017, the panel was on the Behind the Bias, where we will have two external speakers and one internal speaker from industry and academia.
